The cabinet members are appointed roles that cover various areas of campus. They work on their own projects and complete their own initiatives, overseen by the Chief of Staff and appointed by the ECOS President.

Hello! My name is Melody Mayo and I am the Director of Elections 2025-2026. I am a senior from Chicago studying International Relations/Global Affairs and Spanish and minoring in Latin American Studies and Middle East North African Studies. On campus, I am an RA, a Ford Scholar, president of Model UN, and a humble beginner weightlifter. This year, I plan to facilitate an elections process that abides by the constitution as well as contributing improvements to bylaws.
Liaison to the Unity Center
I am a sophomore originally from Orlando. I am currently in a 3-2 year program here at Eckerd for physics and engineering. I am also a leadership scholar, the current co-president for the EC-feminists, and a board member for our all about asians club! As the Unity Center liaison, I promote and advocate for inclusivity on Eckerd's campus. Specifically, representing the voice of the Center. I also work closely with the ambassadors of the center to find paths to address inclusivity issues, host informative events, provide campus wide resources, and more. Overall, my goal is to make sure everyone on campus feels welcome, respected, and receives equal opportunities.
ECOS-ASPEC Liaison
Hey! My name is Sofia Salko, and I am a senior. I am majoring in Human Development and Psychology with a minor in Public Health! I come from a small town in Wisconsin, so I am loving living out my beachy dreams here at Eckerd! As the ASPEC Student Liaison, I will be planning events and working closely with ASPEC to facilitate a relationship between them and the student body. My primary goal is to facilitate events that are both fun and continue to foster intergenerational relationships here at Eckerd because there is so much we can learn from one another!

I am a senior from the Berkshires, Massachusetts, majoring in Sociology. In my role, I lead hearings and collaborate with peers to uphold Eckerd’s values of integrity and respect, making sure our conduct process is fair, educational, and community-oriented. Our goal at SCSB is to create a space where students feel supported, heard, and empowered to grow from their experiences
Cultural Council Liaison
My name is Clare Wurlitzer and I am a senior here at Eckerd College. I am originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, so you know I definitely love the water. I am a Psychology major and additionally have three minors in Animal Studies, Human Development, and Public Health. I work at the Armscot Library at the front desk and I also work in admissions as Telecounselor. My position in ECOS is the Cultural Council Liaison. With my position in ECOS, I aspire to bring together certain aspects of culture here at Eckerd and create events and safe spaces for all students.
Director of Special Projects
I am a senior at Eckerd from the Chicago area. I am double majoring in Marine Science and Environmental Studies. Throughout my time at Eckerd, I have been involved in Deep sea coral reef research, Campus Activities, and I was a Wellness Ambassador for the 2023-2024 school year. I love watching sunsets and grounding myself in nature, playing tennis, and embroidering. My main goal as Director of Special Projects is to bring the Eckerd community closer by spreading kindness and working to make Eckerd a more sustainable place. I hope to work closely with the students to ensure that everyone's needs are being met on campus!
Director of Public Relations
I am a sophomore from Connecticut double majoring in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Law and Justice and Journalism. I am the Director of Public Relations. I am also an ambassador for Pet Life and a Peer Mentor here on campus. As Director of Public Relations, I hope to make sure that students' concerns and comments are being heard and also make sure students hear about all of the amazing events we have!!
Co-Director of the Environmental Responsibility Committee
I am a junior from Cleveland, Ohio, and double-majoring in Marine Geophysics and Computer Science. I am a Gulf Scholar, a Gulf Explorer, in the honors program, and a coordinator for the Academic Honors Council (ahc). I am also the co-president of the Eckerd Environmental Stewards club on campus. Additionally, I do research on machine learning and foraminifera for Dr. Schwing and I am researching the ecological resilience of Fox Pond with Dr. Chemel and Dr. Cribbs. I plan to move Eckerd towards making more sustainable decisions and facilitating a campus that reduces its ecological footprint. I also plan to increase student engagement with environmental projects on campus and support individual student projects with ERC funding.
Co-Director of the Environmental Responsibility Committee
I am a junior set to graduate with a Major in Marine Biology and a minor in coastal management. This year, I am the Co-Director of the Environmental Responsibility Committee alongside Maddie Krischer! This role allows me to connect with the student body and provide environmentally focused resources (including funding) to students, clubs, and other organizations. Some other groups you may find me in are the Gulf Explores, EC-SAR, research groups on campus, and the EES. A priority for me this semester is to get students involved within our Eckerd and St. Petersburg community through environmental education and experiences. I strongly believe that as students, it is essential to exercise our ability to volunteer, implement ideas, and create change while we have the opportunity.
Director of Palmetto Productions - palmetto@eckerd.edu
Angel Bickert is a Business Administration and Spanish double major at Eckerd College with minors in Data Science, Marketing, and Music. Originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Angel served as Palmetto Productions’ Director of Public Relations for two years before stepping into their current role as Director of Directors. In this position, they oversee and support Palmetto’s leadership team, coordinate large-scale events, and foster collaboration across the organization. Passionate about creativity, communication, and community, Angel is dedicated to bringing engaging and memorable experiences to the Eckerd campus. Fun fact: Angel has played cello with the Tampa Bay Symphony!
Director of Technology
I am a senior from New York City and double-majoring in Visual Arts and Marketing. I am also a business owner on campus, running Eckerd's only student-owned merchandise company, and I work for the Visual Arts department on campus. As Technology and Media Director, I oversee the communications and strategy involved in everything ECOS publishes, working directly with the Director of Public Relations and Vice President of Student Engagement. With my position in ECOS, I plan to ensure that our website is up-to-date and easily understandable, and we utilize every possible platform, both in person and online, to keep the student body informed about everything ECOS-related.
Grounds and Accessibility Liaison
I am a senior Communication major with a minor in Leadership studies. While I’m originally from Connecticut, I went to school in Maine and have lived in Jacksonville for several years. On campus, you can find me working at the Rahall Center, running publicity for the Disability Advocacy Coalition, and keeping the other nerds in line at Tabletop Club. A fun fact about me is that I am a former Disney Cast Member.
As the Grounds & Accessibility Liaison, I’m excited to facilitate communication between ongoing construction crews, Eckerd’s Facilities team, and the student body. I’m also passionate about ensuring accessibility for all, particularly at campus events.
ECOS-Athletics Relations Director
I am a junior on the softball team and am a business administration major and a communications minor. I am originally from Tampa, Florida, and my goal in this ECOS position is to close the gap between athletes and non-athletes.

I am a double major in Psychology and Human Development from Bradenton, Florida. I am in the honors program, a Ford Scholar, the president of Active Minds and an officer in Latinos Unidos. Additionally I am a part of the Health and Well-being lab with Dr. Sarah Lyle. But most importantly I am passionate about creating change on campus!
Director of Culinary Relations
Megan is a senior from Saratoga Springs, New York, and is majoring in Environmental Studies with Visual Arts and Sustainability minors. She works and spends a lot of time at the Farm on campus and has a lot of passion surrounding food, cooking, culture, and nature. She is excited to step into this role with the goals of fostering community, improving the dining experience on campus, reducing food waste, building food partnerships across campus, and amplifying student voices in everything food-related.
Director of the Eckerd Emerging Leaders (EEL)
Hi, I am Shelby Simmons! I am a senior from Maryland, double-majoring in Biology and Animal Studies. I work in the Campus Activities office as Office Manager, Captain of the Women's Rugby team, and I am also the Director of Eckerd Emerging Leaders (EEL). I help first-year students and transfers connect with ECOS and assist them with developing their leadership skills and exploring possible positions on the cabinet.
